Overview:
These articles were copied from ‘The Mining and Scientific Press’(M&S
Press), a weekly newspaper from the 1800s and 1900s that composed
their own stories and reprinted articles for local newspapers. These papers
were grouped into six-month volumes, about 400 to 600 pages each, with
two volumes covering one year. Much of the text for the M&S Press was
from local newspapers.
Mining with emphasis on the Forest Hill Divide/Iowa Hill Divide, are the
focus of the articles presented here with mention of the river bars, and rich
mines in Ophir, Dutch Flat, and Gold Run.
Editor footnote: I tried to maintain the interesting spelling, grammar and
formatting from the past while removing any errors from copying the old
documents and pasting them into modern formats.
